Standards for issuance of national licenses based on foreign licenses
1.1
A holder (who also conforms to eligibility for
qualifications concerned determined by the Convention
on International Civil Aviation Annex 1) of airmen
certificate or ratings from a foreign government, which
is under the ICAO Convention, he would like to
qualify for Korean certificate or ratings should pass
the written test and practical test in accordance with
Articles 88 and 89 of the Enforcement Regulations of
the Aviation Safety Act. Parts or whole of the tests
may be exempted in the following cases.

For airmen certificate holders

Written test and practical test exempted for
foreign instructor or operating personnel of
aircraft type newly delivered in Korea.

Written test (Aviation Act and regulations
excepted) exempted for foreign pilots employed
to fill temporary shortages of pilots.

Written test (Aviation Act and regulations
excepted) exempted for applicants other than
above cases.

For ratings : Written and practical tests exempted.
